This year the Association of Fine Jewellers which will once again be present at Jewellery Ireland, right inside the main entrance, has something a little different to share with its members and those interested in joining ….
In a new initiative, the Association, which represents the cream of the Irish jewellery trade, has reached out to the students at DCCOI’s Jewellery, Goldsmithing & Design course in Kilkenny where three of the recent graduates — Doireann O Riordan, Sandra Hartwieg & Cassie McCann— were chosen to take part in a special mentoring relationship with the Association.
Fionagh Ryan, President of the Association of Fine Jewellers explains “There is much to be learned by both sides in this new relationship. Having such a synergy between the bench and the customer is a must in this new era of ‘personalisation’. It will enhance the retailer’s understanding of goldsmithing and design while the graduates will better understand how a commercial range in precious metal must be designed with the customer in mind — both from a design and price element.”
As part of that mentoring process the graduates will attend Jewellery Ireland with a capsule selection of their designs.
